RUN YOUR CITY with Chery South Africa

One innovative brand deserves another, so it is no surprise that Chery South Africa has chosen to sponsor the Absa RUN YOUR CITY series.

The Absa RUN YOUR CITY series is one of the most popular 10 km road race series in South Africa and it has grown exponentially since the first event was held in 2015.

The series has also evolved from road running only to include a number of mountain bike, trail running and women only races with additional sponsorships from brands such as Savannah, THIRSTI, Fedhealth and Totalsports.

RUN YOUR CITY was created by Michael Meyer and the team at Stillwater Sports.

The first event kicked off last weekend with a 10 km run through Cape Town city. This race, like every other event in the series, has been created to be flat and fast and to travel past well-known landmarks, with entertainment and live performances along the way.

“It is a pleasure to announce this association. We believe that mass participation events such as the Absa RUN YOUR CITY series, is enjoyed by all in South Africa. Chery wants to make a difference in South Africa and wishes to create memorable experiences for all South Africans,” says Tony Liu, Executive Deputy General Manager of Chery South Africa.

Chery’s participation in the RUN YOUR CITY series includes the provision of lead and logistical support vehicles and a massive vehicle display for competitors and their friends and family at the registration stations and at the start and finish.

“We were immediately impressed with the team at Stillwater Sports. They have a fresh outlook on outdoor events and believe in quality and professionalism, which are two of our core qualities at Chery South Africa,” says Bianca van Staden, National Marketing and Brand Manager of Chery South Africa.

“We also love the events for their focus on an active lifestyle. Our model range consists exclusively of SUVs, and we believe that your car should enable your active family lifestyle. This is why we decided to sponsor and support the RUN YOUR CITY series,” says Van Staden.

A detailed list of the upcoming events, both for cyclists and runners, is available at runyourcityseries.com. Chery South Africa will also keep the public up to date on its social media channels.

Chery has also announced that it has secured a number of tickets and other event-related prizes as part of its sponsorship agreement.

It will share these tickets with customers through the popular #WithCheryWithLove platform as a way of both rewarding its customers and encouraging an active and healthy lifestyle.

“We want to share in each and every customer journey, and take them along on ours,” says Van Staden.

Chery shows its true colours with charity campaign

Chery South Africa used the much-anticipated launch of its new Tiggo 7 Pro SUV to bring its #WithCheryWithLove campaign to life.

The company yesterday used the media launch of its new midrange luxury SUV to host the team of Tswara Ganang Children’s Home in Gauteng and donate food, sweet gift packs and blankets. The donations were carried in the back of the Tiggo 7 Pros.

“The #WithCheryWithLove campaign first started in China and soon spread across Russia, South America and the Middle East as our customers caught on to the idea of doing good, while having fun in your Chery,” says Bianca van Staden, National Marketing and Brand Manager of Chery South Africa.

The first #WithCheryWithLove campaign started when the Head Office in China invited the various countries in its network to find worthy causes and support them under this hashtag. It also welcomed customers to share their experiences behind the wheel of a Chery with the same hashtag.

Chery South Africa did not waste any time joining #WithCheryWithLove. The first invitations to dealers and the public were issued as soon as the Tiggo 4 Pro was launched and they repeated this when the Tiggo 8 Pro touched down.

For instance, during Easter Chery invited customers to share their experiences behind the wheel of a Chery with the #WithCheryWithLove hashtag. A handful of lucky customers won large hampers.

Prior to the launch of the Tiggo 7 Pro, Chery South Africa, its dealer network, suppliers and friends also joined hands in an ad hoc #WithCheryWithLove campaign and collected over R300 000 in cash, water and donations for old age homes and people affected by the floods in KwaZulu-Natal.

“For the Tiggo 7 Pro, we asked our network of friends and dealers to suggest a worthy cause. That is when Tswara Ganang popped up on our radar.

“We realise that the economy is under pressure, which means that many organisations such as Tswara Ganang must focus their available budget on providing food and basic services to children. That is why we decided to add the sweet gift packs and blankets to our donation,” says Tony Liu, Executive Deputy General Manager of Chery South Africa.

“We want to continue the #WithCheryWithLove campaign throughout the years ahead in an effort to move even closer to our customers and become the warm and supporting brand that we are known for throughout the world.

“Customers and friends of the brand should not hesitate to share their ideas for supporting worthy causes using that hashtag. Where we can assist, we will certainly do so.”

Chery yesterday launched the Tiggo 7 Pro as a luxury mid-range SUV to bridge the gap between the Tiggo 4 Pro luxury compact SUV and the Tiggo 8 Pro flagship. The model features a host of luxury andtechnologically advanced features as standard, including LED lighting, multiple digital touch screens for all controls and vehicle information and five-star safety.

The Tiggo 7 Pro is available at R409 900 for the Distinctive model and R444 900 for the Executive model, that is also equipped with a Panoramic Sunroof and additional luxury and safety features.

“The growth of Chery in South Africa has surprised even our most optimistic dealers and colleagues. We cannot wait to show the new Tiggo 7 Pro to customers and welcome more people to the Chery family and we look forward to our next #WithCheryWithLove project,” says Liu.

Chery, dealers and friends deliver water and blankets to KwaZulu-Natal

A large delivery truck filled to the brim with containers of water, blankets and food have left the Chery South Africa head office in Johannesburg, bound for KwaZulu-Natal.

The shipment of water in easily transportable containers, blankets and food will be delivered at various Chery dealerships in Durban and surrounds. From here, the dealers will use their own delivery infrastructure, staff and even customers to deliver water to needy communities, old age homes and clinics.

“This is the first of hopefully many such initiatives by Chery, its dealers and staff. We hope it acts as a small but powerful gesture of our intention to be a very active and supportive part of the society in every town and city that we are active in and of civil society as a whole in South Africa,” says Tony Liu, Executive Deputy General Manager of Chery South Africa.

Liu explains that the Chery South Africa team sprang into action after reading about the continued lack of clean water in parts of KwaZulu-Natal worst affected by the floods that started on 8 April this year.

“We realised that we have a network of over 60 dealers and an even-wider network of partners, suppliers, colleagues and friends that we could call upon. So, with seed donation from Chery South Africa, we invited everyone in our network to join the cause and they truly surprised us with their speed of action and selfless generosity,” says Jay Jay Botes, National Sales Manager of Chery South Africa.

Since the call went out to its network a few days ago, Chery has managed to purchase over R300 000 in purified water and ship it to KwaZulu-Natal. In this, it is supported by its main logistics partner VDS, who offered one of their largest trucks and fuel for free to ship the water to Chery dealers in the province.

Chery will coordinate the logistics for the water deliveries from its head office, where it will be in contact with each of the Chery dealerships in the province to help with deliveries.
Each dealer has already identified less fortunate individuals and institutions, such as old age homes and clinics to deliver the water to, using their fleet of Chery vehicles and those of customers who have kindly offered to help.

The initiative has also received the support of Chery Global, who immediately recognised it as a worthy cause in line with its global With Chery, With Love campaign. In South Africa, this campaign is run by Bianca van Staden, National Marketing and Brand Manager of Chery South Africa.

Chery actively encourages, and supports, campaigns of active citizenship and good old neighbourly love in every country in which it is active. Chery customers are encouraged to share their actions, ideas and opportunities with Chery, using the #WithCheryWithLove tag.

“The last couple of years have reminded all of us of the importance of being a good member of society and to help where we can. If this water delivery campaign is anything to go by, then South Africans have this neighbourly spirit in spades!” says Van Staden.

Any Chery owner who would like to support any future water deliveries to KwaZulu-Natal are invited to make contact with Chery on their website (chery.co.za), their social media channels or chat to their local dealer for more information.
